Boyce Thompson Arboretum (12/30/2010)

We spent a few very cold hours walking around Boyce Thompson Arboretum.

This is near the lake on the east side of the arboretum.

This is a different HDR set taken from the same spot as the previous picture.

This is on the east side of the arboretum heading down the hill towards Queen Creek.

This is on the southern part of the arboretum facing south.

Shots from the Phoenix Zoo (1/30/2011)

Here are a couple of portrait shots I took while we were at the Phoenix Zoo on 1/30/2011.

You can see me taking the picture in the reflection from the eyes.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum

We spent the afternoon at Boyce Thompson Arboretum on 12/12/2010. Many of the trees were showing some great color change in their leaves. In most of the country, this has already happened. But in the desert, now is when it happens. Here are some pictures.

This is the same tree as above except taken from the other side (HDR)

We camped for a week at the Lower Pines campground in Yosemite Valley on 6/12-6/19. Here are some of the amazing sights.

The Grand Canyon in HDR

During the Memorial Day weekend of 2010, we spent a 4-day weekend camping in the Grand Canyon. Here are several HDR pictures from the trip.

The picture above was taken on the Rim Trail east of Mather Point.

The picture above was taken from the Desert View vista. In the background towards the right is the Painted Desert. On the far left is the Colorado River.

The picture above was also taken from the Desert View vista. This picture is looking more north west than the previous picture.

The picture above was taken at a vista west of Desert View.

I love the details of the rock formations in the above picture.

The pictures above were also taken west of the Desert View vista.

Camping in HDR (4/30/2010 - 5/2/2010)

We spent another great weekend camping. This time we went to Picacho Peak State Park before it closes in late June. All the following pictures were taken and processed by Joe.

The five previous photos were taken at the Windy Point Vista on the Catalina Highway northeast of Tucson. All were hand-held shots with the camera resting on a hand rail. The Auto Exposure Brackets were -2, 0, +2.

This shot was taken during sunset at the Picacho Peak State Park campground. This was taken hand-held from the top of our truck. This was a very difficult shot to take because I was precariously balanced on the top of our truck on a very windy evening. The Auto Exposure Brackets were -2, 0, +2.
